After July 2021, the 2.3.x release line no longer received quality updates or user guide updates. PHP 7.3 reached end of support in December 2021, and Adobe Commerce 2.3.x reached end of support in September 2022. We strongly recommend upgrading to Adobe Commerce 2.4.x to help maintain PCI compliance.

Preview Experience

This site contains archived merchant documentation for a version of Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source that has reached end-of-support. The documentation available here is intended for historical reference only and is not maintained. The Adobe Commerce Merchant Documentation for current releases is published on the Adobe Experience League.

Due to the shutdown of Temando, the provider of the technology behind Magento Shipping, it is no longer possible to create a new Magento Shipping account. For detailed status information and recommendations for new shipping implementations in Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source, see the shipping solutions page.

Preview Experience allows you to preview the shipping methods that display for a customer during checkout for a defined shopping basket. Experiences that do not display a shipping method are also identified. This helps you test your shipping experiences without having to navigate back and forth between your Magento site and the Magento Shipping Portal.

Preview Experience:

  • Allows you to preview and test shipping experiences against a mock scenario from within the the Magento Shipping Portal.

  • Allows you to create a custom persona that represents a real customer.

  • Enables you to safely test shipping experiences against the custom persona.

Create a New Preview Experience

Personas can be created directly from the Experience Preview pane.

  1. In the Admin sidebar, choose Stores.

  2. In the Shipping section, choose Experiences. The Magento Shipping Portal opens in a new tab.

  3. In the Simulate a customer’s cart drop-down, choose New Persona.

  4. Enter information for the persona to match the customer use case you would like to test.

    • Country
    • Post Code
    • Weight Unit
    • Currency
    • Items in cart
      • Name
      • Sku
      • Category
      • Weight
      • Price
      • Qty (To add more items, click the + icon.)

  5. Click Save. The preview is triggered with the new persona automatically selected.

  6. The preview is triggered with the new persona automatically selected. Based on your shipping configuration, possible and excluded carriers display in the preview.

Multiple Personas can be created and are stored against the Magento Shipping account. You can quickly change previews by selecting a different saved persona in the Simulate a customer’s cart drop-down.
