Sitemaps
Edge Delivery Services generates a sitemap automatically at /sitemap.xml whenever you publish content. No configuration is needed for a working sitemap.
What gets included automatically
Section titled “What gets included automatically”Every page you publish is included in the sitemap. This covers marketing pages, landing pages, category pages you author directly, and any other document-based content.
Product pages are not included automatically. If your developer has configured AEM Commerce prerender, those pages appear in the sitemap. To get them included, contact your developer.
Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console
Section titled “Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console”In Google Search Console , open the Sitemaps section for your property, enter your sitemap URL (typically https://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml), and choose Submit. Google starts crawling the URLs within a few days, and you can check indexing status and any errors in Search Console.
When to involve a developer
Section titled “When to involve a developer”For most storefronts, the automatic sitemap is sufficient. Contact your developer when:
- Product pages are missing from the sitemap and you need them included for SEO.
- Your site supports multiple languages and search engines are indexing the wrong locale.
- Your catalog has more than 50,000 products. See File and content limits for the per-file URL and size limits.
- You need custom configuration such as
hreflangtags for a multi-store setup.
If you recently restructured your site URLs, set up Redirects to preserve SEO value from old URLs while the sitemap points search engines to the new ones.
